Tea Culture Of Japan – Chanoyu Past And Present

The Yale University Art Gallery was Louis I. Kahn’s first significant commission and is widely considered his first masterpiece. Exhibit illuminates the importance of Japanese tea culture and examines the ways in which it has evolved over the centuries. The show brings together about 100 objects. Objects on view range from the ninth century through the present day and include ceramic tea bowls from Japan, Korea, China and Vietnam, as well as Zen-inspired Architectural Parchment works.
