Japanese Consul-General in NY, Ambassador Motoatsu Sakurai and his wife invited a number of Japanese cultural involved individuals to their official residence for the Japanese New Year. Their intention was to encourage introduction of Japanese traditional products and materials to Western markets and to preserve the traditional methods used to create these products. They are especially interested in authentic products such as washi.
